Why doesn't God mention "hell" or "sin" nevermind "original sin" in the entire Adam and Eve story?

If it had the significance Christians want it to have, wouldn't God say "you have sinned and now all your descendants will be tainted with original sin and doomed to hell". Instead, he goes on about working hard to make a living, and the pain of childbirth. What gives?
